The Northern Shan State Alliance Army (NSSAA), which is fighting against dictatorship, reportedly attacked the town hall of Lashio in northern Shan State with a bomb
.
A man who lives nearby confirmed that the blast occurred at around 1pm on Wednesday, but could not say if there were any casualties. After the attack, the Burma Army (BA) set up roadblocks and interrogated anyone in the area.
The NSSAA said in its statement that the action was a warning against holding the Tasaungdai celebration in Yantai Aung Myo Oo Pagoda from 4-7 November. It is not appropriate to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the celebrations during the revolutionary period, the armed group said, pointing out that the BA had killed many people. It called on people not to attend the event, which is organised by the military regime.
Famous singers Nor Naw, Lashio Maung Win, Hpawt Kai, Moe Aung Yin, Chaw Su Khin, L. Hseng Zi, Shwe Rupa Oo and Amy Zan are reportedly performing at the event.
