Fighting broke out from 2pm to 5.30pm on Sunday, after which the Kokang group withdrew from their camp, said a source who declined to be named. ”The Burma Army (BA) attacked the MNDAA camp from a hill near Kawng Ma Ki Nok with artillery.”

Another anonymous source said residents from Mang Pein and Wan Kart had fled the fighting.

The next day, clashes continued near Nawng Kham at midday after BA LIB-402, under LID-99, advanced on the MNDAA troops, according to another man who also requested anonymity.

The Kachin Independence Army is also fighting with the BA around Mong Baw and clashed with its soldiers in late March.
