Over 100 prisoners from Burma were released to Tachileik border officials by Thailand this Tuesday, December 15.
A total of 105 migrant workers, who were jailed in the Thai border town of Mae Sai, were sent back to Burma by Thai border officials via Friendship Bridge-2.
Tun, from Tachileik District General Administration Office, told SHAN they would be quarantined at a high school in Mong Koe village-tract and tested for COVID-19. If they test negative, they’ll be sent home after their quarantine finishes.
Some of the migrant workers were detained by Thai border guards after attempting to enter Thailand illegally.
Of the returnees, 67 were men and 38 women. They come from all over Burma.
