Troops from Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Mandalay People’s Defense Force (PDF) recently seized a State Administration Council (SAC) camp in Thanbo village.

The PDF reported launching the attack on the camp in Nawngkio Township on January 2, capturing it by 7 am the following morning. The camp commander’s Lt-Col Thet Aung, was captured alive but many SAC soldiers perished in battle.

The PDF acknowledged casualties on their side but did not provide detailed information. The groups also seized a number of weapons from the camp.

After capturing it, the Burma army dispatched reinforcement troops in three military trucks from Kyaukme Lay in Pyin Oo Lwin Township, Mandalay Region, but were successfully ambushed by the groups, which also captured additional weapons.

The PDF, which is based in Mandalay, has been cooperating with TNLA during the Three Brotherhood Alliance’s 1027 Operation.
