Resistance Seize Camps in Kyaukme Township and Mandalay Region

Resistance groups seized another State Administration Council (SAC) camp in northern Shan State. Last week, Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Mogok People’s Defense Force (PDF) captured the regime camp in Lel Gyi, Kyaukme Township.

According to a local source knowledgeable about the situation fighting occurred from 5:30 am to 10 am near a suspension bridge in the village, not far from the ruby area of Mogok town, located in Mandalay Region. He mentioned that a regime jet fighter conducted two airstrikes against the resistance fighters.

According to a TNLA officer from the group’s information department, last Tuesday, December 5, they initiated an offensive against the Lel Gyi camp and one in the town of Monglon, successfully seizing the latter the following day and the former on Thursday. He explained that they captured some small and heavy weapons from the enemy in Monglon.

Over 500 people have sought shelter from the fighting near the town at Buddhist monasteries or with their relatives, and they all need emergency relief. “There are only a few people remaining in Monglon,” the first source explained.

Locals reported that a woman was instantly killed by a regime airstrike in the town on December 5, and ten people, including a child and disabled person, were injured, while at least five homes were destroyed there.
