Junta Soldiers Kill Farmer in Paikhun Township

Must read

Last week, junta soldiers reportedly killed a man while he was working on his farm with his spouse in southern Shan State.

.

“Military Council’s soldiers shot at them while they were putting fertiliser on their farm. The woman’s husband was killed, and she was injured,” an anonymous soldier from the Paikhun (a.k.a. Pekon) People’s Defence Force (PDF) Battalion 2 told SHAN.

Soldiers took the man’s body away and arrested the woman. The couple lived in Kon Sone, Paikhun Township, located in Taunggyi District.

Currently, “there are no clashes in Pekon Township. It is silent here while fighting is happening in other areas. The Burma army has tightened security in the township and is arresting anyone they deem suspicious,” the resistance fighter said.

While the fighting has ceased around Pekon, violence has escalated in the bordering Karenni State, where other PDFs, Karenni Nationalities Defence Force, Karenni Army and Karenni People’s Liberation Army are engaged in battle with the Military Council. The regime has increased its aerial assaults as it continues to suffer losses on the ground, resulting in frequent casualties.
