KIA Destroys Fuel Tankers Destined For Burma Army in Northern Shan State

Kachin Independence Army (KIA) soldiers burned seven fuel tankers trucks in Kutkai Township, northern Shan State.

Col Naw, the spokesperson for Kachin Independence Organization, KIA’s political arm, told SHAN they burned the trucks carrying fuel purchased from China because its for the Burma Army.

Locals explained some of it was for the military’s combat helicopters that are being used to attack Kachin soldiers.

According to Col Naw Bu, KIA troops attacked six fuel tankers as they traveled the Union Highway between Kutkai and Hsenwi towns in Kutkai Township the evening of May 17. At about 7am the next day, they took out another fuel tanker truck near Nam Perchi village.

According to man from Kutkai town, Burma Army exchanged fire with KIA after the attacks.
