Three Women Killed in PNO Campaign Car in Southern Shan State

Three female Pa-O National Organization (PNO) campaigners were killed after the vehicle they were driving crashed near Ban Yin village, located in Hsihseng Township.

“The driver couldn’t control the car and it flipped,” San Win Maung, from Hsihseng town, told SHAN. The women died in the crash in southern Shan State at about 6 p.m. on October 22. Their bodies were sent to Ban Yin Hospital for an autopsy.

The front tire had a puncture, causing it to burst and capsizing the vehicle, after rolling several times. Four others traveling in the vehicle were injured in the accident. All the PNO campaigners are from Hopon Township.

On October 18, three female campaigners from Shan National League for Democracy were killed after their vehicle drove into the Shweli River in Muse town, located in northern Shan State. A five-year-old child in the car was missing after the crash. Four others survived the accident.
