Must read

On Wednesday morning, a clash between troops from the Military Council and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) broke out near Nawng Morn in Lashio Township.

Sai Saw (not his real name) said the skirmish along the Lashio – Hsipaw road only lasted for 15 minutes, at which point he saw up to four military trucks from the regime patrolling the area.

The morning before, a junta vehicle convoy was attacked by an improvised explosive device when it stopped near Nawng Morn, locals have reported. Another man requesting anonymity said there were over 30 trucks in the convoy. He said some were damaged during the explosion, but the rest of the trucks carried on towards the town of Lashio from the town of Hsipaw.

The TNLA has been clashing with the Burma army in Muse and Lashio districts in northern Shan State. Both have deployed additional troops to these areas as tensions continue to escalate.

On Tuesday at 10 am, on the same day the convoy was ambushed, regime soldiers near Nam Khine Bridge in Kutkai Township fired 81 mm shells that killed farm animals and damaged at least four homes in Mong Yu.
