Military Coup and Defenseless Women – Issue 79

Repeated calls for negotiations which lack essence with those who are committing war crimes have a huge impact not only on Myanmar’s security but also on the global affairs on women, peace and security, according to a statement issued by women involved in Myanmar’s peacemaking process on October 31, 2022.

The joint statement was issued on the 22nd year anniversary of the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325. The statement pointed out that the international community is turning a blind eye to crimes against humanity, genocide against ethnic groups including the Rohingya, and war crimes which are being committed by the junta and its cohorts who regard the public as enemy.
