Due to the recent intense gun fight between the Mong Bye People Defense Force and Myanmar junta in Moebye town, Southern Shan State, about ten thousand locals are stuck in the areas.

The gun fight between Moebye (Mong Bye) PDF and Myanmar junta broke out since 15 February 2022, some natives were able to flee the areas where some of them cannot escape from the fighting ground yet.

“Some civilians have been displaced and relocated. However, some are stuck in the areas. Some are waiting to be rescued in the city,” a member of Moebye Rescue Team told SHAN.

Some Moebye residents could escape from the battle ground and relocate to the nearby relative houses and monasteries.

“Some IDPs arrange their own escape. They are not all in one place, they are scattering around the nearby areas. Some people in the city cannot run yet because of the intense fight, about two third of the people in the city are stuck in that area,” the above Moebye Rescue Team member added.

Myanmar junta has used artillery shelling and shot recklessly which caused injuries to the civilians. Similarly, yesterday on 17 February 2022, 7 civilians were injured because of the shelling from Myanmar army.
