A man in Burma’s northern unruly Shan State was shot and killed on his motorbike by two unidentified assailants this Wednesday (July 2).
Eyewitness Ko Lwin told SHAN the victim was killed by two assailants, also riding motorcycles, near the Ho Nar monastery in Kawng Muu Ton ward around 9 pm yesterday.
“Two gunmen followed the unidentified man, who was about 25-years-old. They shot him and fled the scene. The victim died on the spot,” he says.
A police officer from Muse Myoma police station says the man had gunshot wounds on the right side of his neck, between his ribs on the right side and pelvic bone, also on the right side. Two 9 mm bullet casings were recovered from the crime scene. “We are looking for the perpetrators,” says the officer. A murder investigation has been opened.
Robberies, shootings and bomb attacks occur frequently in Muse, located along the Chinese border, where many armed groups involved in organized crime are based.
