Quarantined Workers Sent Home

Must read

Hundreds of returning workers that were doing a 21-day quarantine in eastern Shan State are on their way back to their villages.

Nearly 400 people were quarantined in Mong La, the headquarters of the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA), located near the Chinese border, before being sent by bus to Kengtung.

After arriving in Taunggyi, they rested for a few hours, said Phyo Min Hteik, who is a general administration department officer for Taunggyi township.

“We made a medical check-up on all of the returnees and then they continued on their journey,” he told SHAN. Because their buses won’t stop until they reach their final destinations, Phyo Min Htei said  the returning workers were given lunch boxes.

Most of the returnees are from Rakhine State and Magwe Region, but they also come from Mon and Shan states, and the Irrawaddy Delta.

Phyo Min Hteik said they were the third group that has passed through Taunggyi and expected more returnees to be making their way through the Shan State capital soon.
