A junta airstrike on Monday morning killed a teenage girl and injured another in Namhsan Township, southern Shan State, as the military continues to intensify aerial assaults on Ta’ang (Palaung) National Liberation Army (TNLA)–controlled areas.
At around 7 a.m. on October 14, military aircraft bombed Oum Ma Swam village, killing a 17-year-old girl and wounding a 15-year-old, according to local sources.
“They bombed again this morning. Two were injured, and one of them, a 17-year-old student, died. The village is not far from Kayar Gyi, which was bombed yesterday,” a military source in the area told SHAN.
The strike came just a day after the military dropped six 250-pound bombs on Kayar Gyi village in the same township, injuring a man and damaging two school buildings and six civilian houses, according to the TNLA Information Department.
Two days earlier, on October 12, junta aircraft also dropped three bombs between Mongkut (Mogok) and Mong Lon—both under TNLA control—with explosions reported near Lel Gyi and Pa Zi villages.
Since retaking Kyaukme town, the military council has been advancing toward Hsipaw and stepping up air assaults on TNLA-held areas, including Mong Lon, Mong Ngaw, Namtu, Namhsan, and Mantong, leading to a sharp rise in civilian casualties.
