Fighting between the Burma Army (BA) and the Mandalay People’s Defence Force (PDF) forced three villages to flee the violence, which lasted for a day and ended after the BA called in an attack helicopter and artillery strikes in northern Shan State.

Comrade Moe Joe, a PDF officer, said many people from Lon Khin, Kyan Khin and Yadanar Theingi fled the clashes between Nawngkio Township and Mandalay Region on 24 August.

”Some of our soldiers suffered minor injuries and several BA soldiers were killed in the clashes,” he said, from which the PDF withdrew after the air strikes began.

From 3 to 5 August, there were also clashes between the PDF and junta forces near Yadanar Theingi in Nawngkio Township, in which at least 6 BA soldiers were killed.
