Three men were found dead with gunshot wounds near Kong Mung village in northern Shan State’s Hsipaw Township on Monday afternoon.
Ko Myo, who is working with the Hsipaw-based Volunteers Without Borders, said that neither the perpetrators nor the victims had yet been identified. The bodies of the three men have been sent to Hsipaw’s public hospital to undergo autopsies.
“The three dead bodies were found near Kong Mung village, which is located 150 feet away from the national highway,” Ko Myo added.
While police are investigating the murder, shootings are not uncommon but arrests are rare in northern Shan State.
A family of five was shot and killed near Kong Mung village on April 9. No arrests have been made.
SHAN tried to contact Hsipaw Myoma police station for comment on the case but nobody answered the calls.
The Burma Army, ethnic armed organizations, and militias are active in Hsipaw Township.
