Panglong Residents Fled Due to Fake News of Northern Alliance Arrival

The residents of Sanin tract, Panglong town, Loilam township, were fear and fled their homes due to the news of the Northern Alliance armed groups has reached into the area.

Starting from the late January 2022, news of the Northern Alliance armed groups has reached Panglong town was spreading all over social media and some locals started running away.

“It was just a fake news that the Northern Alliance was here. It was not true. It is all fine now. Because of that fake news, some has fled their homes. People were scared of the news of the Northern Alliance,” a young man who lives in Sanin tract told SHAN.

It is also reported that the news of military junta and UWSA trucks were seen in Panglong areas was another reason for the residents to run away.

However, neither gunfire nor conflict was reported around the areas of Panglong, and people were just anxious because of the fake news.

“No gun fight was reported. It was because of the fake news that they fled. They were hearing all the rumors that UWSA and military junta cars were here. No armed groups cars reached our village. Some military junta cars passed through Pan Mone, Panglong town sometimes, that’s all,” a man who lives in Panglong told SHAN.

Some of those who were living in the rural areas of Panglong have moved into the city.

“Some villagers from the outskirt areas moved in. Those who just moved in beside our house are from Sanin tract. They fled because of the rumors that gun fight would escalate in the areas,” a young woman who lives in Panglong told SHAN.

It is reported that RCSS/SSA has been stationed in the mountain of Sanin tract, Panglong township.
