Sixteen COVID-19 Cases Reported in Tachileik

Tachileik health officials detected 16 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, December 1, over a 24-hour period, after testing about 300 people in the Burmese town along the Thai border.

Dr Lin Htut Oo, head of the Tachileik District Hospital, told SHAN that 14 of the transmissions had contact with another confirmed case. The other two were detected after testing at the Mae Yang checkpoint. 

Since the pandemic started until November 30, there’s been 425 cases confirmed in Shan State: 108 in the north, 38 in the east and 279 in the south. Among these, there were 273 recoveries and one person who died from the disorder. There’s 151 COVID-19 patients receiving medical treatment in hospitals in Shan State.

The Ministry of Health and Sports reported 92,189 confirmed cases in Burma on December 1, while 71,343 have recovered and there’s been 1,972 deaths.
