More than 3,400 Burmese soldiers and their family members cast advance votes in Taunggyi District ahead of Burma’s general election on Sunday, the district election commission reported.
According to Taunggyi district election commission, there are total of 748,451 eligible voters who can vote at 723 polling stations in Taunggyi District on November 8.
“Soldiers and their family members were included in the total of more than 700,000 eligible voters in Taunggyi District,” Win Shwe told SHAN. “We have the eligible voter list of who cast advance votes.”
There are five townships in Taunggyi District: Taunggyi, Nyaungshwe (Yawnghwe), Kalaw, Lawksawk, and Pekhon.
Throughout Shan State, there are 75 polling stations for the military, and 114 polling stations where both soldiers and civilians will vote.
A total of 122 electoral candidates from 18 political parties are running for election in Taunggyi District in this election.
