The narcotics and related materials were in a ravine west of Palaung Pu Tung village in Mong Tawng village tract during a “clearance operation” in the area from July 7-8.

Locals in eastern Shan State have told SHAN that military-backed People’s Militia Forces are heavily involved in drug production in the region.

“The narcotics factory and the illicit drugs were ownerless they were captured. Local people know who make these things. Drug production is increasing every year,” Sai Tip, who lives in Tachilek, told SHAN.
