Woman Dies of COVID-19 in Lashio

A 38-year-old woman died of COVID-19 in the hospital in Lashio, northern Shan State, at 1 a.m. this Thursday, December 10, according to the Hsipaw Social Volunteer Team.

Her death marks the second fatality caused by the disease in Shan State since the pandemic started.

The deceased, who’s from Sung Loung village-tract, was sent to Hsipaw Public Hospital on December 2, and then transferred to Lashio on December 6.

SHAN repeatedly called the Lashio Public Hospital for confirmation of the woman’s death, who apparently had no history of travel, but no-one picked up. 

The Shan State government reported 641 cases of COVID-19 in the state on December 9, while 432 have recovered from the disorder.

On the same day, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported 103,166 cases of COVID-19 in Burma. Of these, 80,726 have recovered and 2,151 died.
