The man, who doesn’t have any travel history outside of Burma, worked at a construction site near Myitsone, located in Kachin State, before returning to his village at the end of May.

Dr Hnin Ei Phyu, who’s deputy head of Shan State health department, told SHAN the case is staying in a government-controlled quarantine facility in the township. “He will be moved to a sub-township hospital tonight. He will be transferred to Sao San Htun Hospital in Taunggyi tomorrow.”

On the same day that the man’s infection was confirmed, MoHS confirmed another case.

In Burma, there are now 246 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while 6 have died and 159 have recovered. Testing in the Southeast country has been low. Until recently there was only one lab that was capable of confirming the acute respiratory disease. Only 40,600 samples have been verified.
