A 50-year-old man was shot in the head and killed in eastern Shan State’s Tachileik town on Tuesday.
Ah Pher was the owner of the Tapin Shwe Htee gas station. While his car was stopped in traffic near the Akha market at around 1:30 p.m., two motorbike drivers shot him multiple times in the head at close range.
“He was killed on the spot,” said witness Sai Seing.
The gunmen headed toward downtown Tachileik after the shooting and are still at large.
“We are afraid because the shooting occurred in a crowded area. We are worried about security because this incident occurred in the mid-day,” a Tachileik local told SHAN, adding that shootings, robberies, and drug trafficking are not uncommon in the town, which is located on the Thai-Burma border. local, who lives in Tarchilek town, said to SHAN.
