The two-day event will include awards, discussions of political issues, and a concert.
The Shan Nationalities League for Democracy (SNLD) will commemorate its 30th anniversary in Taunggyi this week.
The event will be held at the Shan Literature and Culture office on Thursday and Friday, and include the allocation of awards, particularly for youth and the party’s longtime supporters.
“We invited party members from all townships in Shan, Kachin and Kayah states,” SNLD’s vice-chairperson Sao Kham Pai Fa told SHAN.
Participants will discuss issues including party development, economics, reconciliation, peace and conflict. Parliamentarians are also scheduled to give talks.
Shan traditional clothing and food will be sold at the two-day event, and the band Famous Power-3 will perform a concert.
The SNLD was formed on October 26, 1988. The party is currently headed by chairperson Hkun Htun Oo, vice chairperson Sao Kham Pai Fa, general secretary Sai Nyunt Lwin, secretary-1 Sai Lek and secretary-2 Sai Kyaw Nyunt.
