Venue: IBC, 6 Miles, Pyay Road
Date: 22nd July, 2015

Time: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
The Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) River Basin lies at the cultural and ecological heart of Myanmar, and sustainable management of the basin is critical to its continued survival.

MEE Net, with partner organizations in Myanmar, has facilitated a Community-Centered SEA in the Irrawaddy River Basin to connect people from local and regional levels and to help ensure the sustainable management of the river. Using participatory, inclusive and process-oriented approaches, the Community-Centered SEA aims to empower communities and build the capacity of local networks while documenting current data from the Irrawaddy River ecosystems.

The studies in the villages along the Ayeyarwady River have conducted in 11 villages in 2013 and 16 places in 2014 in the difference ecosystem unit of the river. The first conference on “Ayeyarwady and its People” was held on 17th December 2013 at the Judson Hall and the second conference was done in Mandalay in March 2014 at Dahma Salar Hall.

After these community researches in the 27 places along the river, we would like to organize a conference based on the community centered- research works conducted by the villagers in the Ayeyarwady Basin.

We would like to invite your presence at the conference.
