Society for Tai Ahom Resurgence (STAR)  in collaboration with Mariani College, Mariani, Assam, India is organizing the First International Workshop on Tai Language and Culture from 20th to 26th July 2015 at Mariani College. A huge number of participants from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and rest of India will be participating in the event. Faculties from Tai speaking populations of Northeast India, Myanmar and Thailand will be will teach the students to speak Tai language for day to day usage and conversations. They will also teach Tai songs, dances and other forms of Tai culture.

On 25th July there will be day long seminar on ‘ Tai language and Culture – Practice and Relevance at Present

Sub Topic –
1. Tai language – its origin
2. Tai language and its position in the days of the Ahom rule…
3. Tai Culture from the days of Sukapha to the present day
4. The Transformation of Tai Culture
5. Tai language and culture – Role in Moulding the Greater Assam (Bor Akhom)
6. Religious belief of Tai people
7. The relationship of the Tai’s and the Indigenous people of Assam.

The joining fees for Tai people in the workshop will be Rs. 1000/ per delegate. Students will have to pay Rs. 300/ per person (on production of certificate from competent authority.). Seminar fee will be Rs. 1000/ per delegate.

Accommodation will be provided in the college hostel free of cost. Those desiring accommodation in hotels and guest house may contact the organizers on advance payment.
