The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) engaged in a fierce battle with troops from the State Administration Council (SAC) in northern Shan State and Mandalay Division. The Ta’ang armed group reported that the enemy suffered numerous casualties, including the deaths of officers.

During the six-hour clash with SAC’s Infantry Battalion 427, which began at 10 am on Saturday in Namkham Township, northern Shan State, the TNLA recovered the body of a deceased enemy soldier, a 79-mm grenade launcher, and other weapons and ammunition.

At 2 pm, a second round of fighting broke out between Nyaung Kong Nur and Nyaung Kong Tau in Mogok Township, Mandalay Division.

As is customary, SAC retaliated after the fighting ended by shelling the area around the TNLA troops, resulting in the destruction of at least 10 homes in Nyaung Kong Nur.

SHAN was unable to reach the TNLA’s spokesperson for comments on the clashes at the time of going to press.

According to the armed group, it has clashed 15 times with SAC troops in October.
