A CDM Medical Doctor Couple Arrested in Taunggyi

A Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) participant doctoral medical doctor couple was arrested by the military junta in Taunggyi, Southern Shan State.

According to the sources closed to the victims, the CDM couple was taken away on 19 May 2022 early morning at their house in Taunggyi, Shan State.

One of the two doctors couple being captured, Dr. U Mya San, is stationed at Taunggyi Sao San Tun hospital as an anesthesiologist, and the female doctor, Dr. Aye Khaing Oo is stationed at an maternal and child hospital as an ultrasound and X-Ray specialist. 

“The couple was arrested and taken away at 3 A.M in the early morning with so many security forces when they came,” a person who is closed to the incident told SHAN.

The location where the two doctors were taken is still unknown. 

It is reported that recently the CDM doctors in Taunggyi are being targeted, and frequent arrests are being made.

According to the CDM community in Taunggyi, two CDM civil servants who are now working at Myat Taw Win hospital and Padamyar hospital were also arrested by the military junta on 19 May 2022. 

Additionally, the military junta has been doing surprised checks on private hospitals and schools to see if those private entities are hiring the civil servant CDMs.
